Faithfulness to the Law is a condition of God’s aid

“Be strong and stand firm, for you are the man to give this people possession of the land that I swore to their fathers I should give to them. Only be strong and stand firm and be careful to keep all the Law which my servant Moses laid on you. Never swerve from this to right or left, and then you will be happy in all you do. Have the book of this Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may carefully keep everything that is written in it. Then you will prosper in your dealings, then you will have success. Have I not told you: Be strong and stand firm? Be fearless then, be confident, for go where you will, Yahweh your God is with you.”

Joshua 1:6-9

Against evil counselors

Woe to those who hide from Yahweh
to conceal their plans,
who scheme in the dark
and say, “Who can see us? Who can recognize us?”
What perversity this is !
Is the potter no better than the clay?
Can something that was made say of its maker,
“He did not make me?”
Or a pot say of the potter,
“He is a fool?”
In a short time, a very short time,
shall not Lebanon become fertile land
and fertile land turn into forest?
The deaf, that day,
will hear the words of a book
and, after shadow and darkness,
the eyes of the blind will see.
But the Jowly will rejoice in Yahweh even more
and the poorest exult in the Holy One of Israel;
for tyrants shall be no more, and scoffers vanish,
and all be destroyed who are disposed to do evil:
those who gossip to incriminate others,
those who try at the gate to trip the arbitrator
and get the upright man’s case dismissed for groundless reasons.
Therefore Yahweh speaks,
the God of the House of Jacob,
Abraham’s redeemer:
No longer shall Jacob be ashamed,
no more shall his face grow pale,
for he shall see what my hands have done in his midst,
he shall hold my name holy.
They will hallow the Holy One of Jacob,
stand in awe of the God of Israel.
Erring spirits will Jearn wisdom
and murmurers accept instruction.

Isaiah 29:15-24

The Good Shepherd

As I Can See

Yahweh is my shepherd,
I lack nothing.

In meadows of green grass he lets me lie.
To the waters of repose he leads me;
there he revives my soul.

He guides me by paths of virtue
for the sake of his name.

Though I pass through a gloomy valley,
I fear no harm;
beside me your rod and your staff
are there, to hearten me.

You prepare a table before me
under the eyes of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil,
my cup brims over.

Ah, how goodness and kindness pursue me,
every day of my life;
my home, the house of Yahweh,
as long as I live!

Where are your gods you made for yourself?

As I Can See

The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

‘Go and shout this in Jerusalem’s ears: ‘Yahweh says this: “I remember your faithful love, the affection of your bridal days, when you followed me through the desert, through a land unsown.

Israel was sacred to Yahweh; the first-fruits of his harvest; all who ate this incurred guilt, disaster befell them, Yahweh declares.” ‘

Listen to Yahweh’s word, House of Jacob and all the families of the House of Israel.

Yahweh says this, ‘What did your ancestors find wrong in me for them to have deserted me so far as to follow Futility and become futile themselves?

They never said, “Where is Yahweh, who brought us out of Egypt and led us through the desert, through a land of plains and ravines, through a land of drought, of shadow dark as death, a land through which no one passes and where no…

The End is Near

As I Can See

The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows, “Son of man, say,
The Lord Yahweh says this to the land of Israel: Finished! The end is
coming for the four quarters of the land. Now all is over with you; I
mean to unleash my anger on you, and judge you as your conduct deserves and
force you to answer for all your filthy practices. I mean to show you no pity,
I will not spare you; I am going to call you to account for your conduct and for
the filthy practices that you parade; and so you will learn that I am Yahweh.
The Lord Yahweh says this: Now disaster is going to follow on disaster. The end is coming, the end is coming for you; it is coming now. Now, it is
your turn, you who live in this country. The time has come, the…

Lord, How Majestic is Your Name

As I Can See

Yahweh our Lord, how majestic is your name throughout the world! Whoever keeps singing of your majesty higher than the heavens,
even through the mouths of children, or of babes in arms, you make him a fortress, firm against your foes, to subdue the enemy and the rebel.
I look up at your heavens, shaped by your fingers, at the moon and the stars you set firm-
what are human beings that you spare a thought for them, or the child of Adam that you care for him?
Yet you have made him little less than a god, you have crowned him with glory and beauty,
made him lord of the works of your hands, put all things under his feet,
sheep and cattle, all of them, and even the wild beasts,
birds in the sky, fish in the sea, when he makes his way across the ocean.

The new world order

God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful, multiply and
fill the earth. ·Be the terror and the dread of all the wild beasts and all the
birds of heaven, of everything that crawls on the ground and all the fish of the
sea; they are handed over to you. Every living and crawling thing shall provide
food for you, no less than the foliage of plants. I give you everything, with
this exception: you must not eat flesh with life, that is to say blood, in it. I will
demand an account of your lifeblood. I will demand an account from every.
beast and from man. I will demand an account of every man’s life from his
fellow men.

“He who sheds man’s blood,
shall have his blood shed by man,
for in the image of God
man was made.”

“As for you, be fruitful, multiply, teem over the earth and be lord of it.”
God spoke to Noah and his sons, “See, I establish my Covenant with you,
and with your descendants after you; also with every living creature to be found
with you, birds, cattle and every wild beast with you: everything that came out
of the ark, everyth ing that lives on the earth. ·I establish my Covenant with
you: no thing of flesh shall be swept away again by the waters of the flood.
There shall be no flood to destroy the earth again.”
God said, “Here is the sign of the Covenant I make between myself and you
and every living creature with you for all generations: I set my bow in the
clouds and it shall be a sign of the Covenant between me and the earth. When
I gather the clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, I will
recall the Covenant between myself and you and every living creature of
every kind. And so the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy
all things of flesh. When the bow is in the clouds I shall see it and call to mind
the lasting Covenant between God and every living creature of every kind that
is found on the earth.”
God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the Covenant I have established
between myself and every living thing that is found on the earth.”

Genesis 9:1-17

They disembark

Then God said to Noah, “Come out of the ark, you yourself, your wife,
your sons, and your sons’ wives with you. As for all the animals with you,
all things of flesh, whether birds or animals or reptiles that crawl on the earth,
bring them out with you. Let them swarm on the earth; let them be fruitful
and multiply on the earth.” So Noah went out with his sons, his wife, and his
sons’ wives. And all the wild beasts, all the cattle, all the birds and all
the reptiles that crawl on the earth went out from the ark, one kind after
another.
Noah built an altar for Yahweh, and choosing from all the clean animals
and all the clean birds he offered burnt offerings on the altar. Yahweh smelled
the appeasing fragrance and said to himself, “Never again will I curse the earth
because of man, because his heart contrives evil from his infancy. Never again
will I strike down every living thing as I have done.

“As long as earth lasts,
sowing and reaping,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night
shall cease no more.”
