An interview with an author of God

One of the greatest contributions of the internet to our lives is that we can get to know the world and its reality more and differently than it is being told to us and we can discover whole new ideas and fantastic people all around the globe.

I’ve been reading a lot of blogs since the start of As I Can See. For quite some time one of them is SueAnn Porter’s and one thing is for sure, her devotion to God appears in her writings and lifestyle as well as her pursue of happiness.

She was kind to make time for this interview, so meet SueAnn Porter, an honest daughter of God on life, faith, challenges and answers and a view on our world today!

(This interview is the second of the series. Read the first with Ben Lorentzen here: An interview with an artist of God.)

1. Dear SueAnn, How are you doing these days? Have you made any New Year’s resolution which hard to keep?

Honestly, I gave up on New Year’s resolutions many years ago.

As you know, I have published an ebook named “Arm Wrestling with Pharaoh” which looks at the Book of Exodus, and the story of Pharaoh and Moses. It compares how we go through situations today, when it looks like all hope is lost, but God has an answer.

Right now, it’s only available as an eBook. I am looking into having it printed in paperback.

I have started working on a Time-Travel novel. I am involved in a new writing group, which has been very helpful.

2. You have faced with various challenges in your life. Have you ever felt there is no way to continue, yet, you went on?

There were many times I felt that there was no way to continue – depression was overwhelming to the point of suffocation. I just kept going.

3. Is there any definite moment when we can clearly feel the presence of God, helping us? When were your most definite moments?

When I really stop, be still, then I can sense God’s presence strongly. The world keeps going faster and faster. God lives in Eternity and it’s a much easier pace. When we connect with Eternity, we find peace in God.

4. Reading your blog it is obvious you are deeply committed and grateful to your spouse. How did you two meet?

We met at work. This is a good place to meet someone because you know he has a job! Also, he was taller than me, which was important.

5. After you realized, you are the on to each other, how did you gain wisdom and strength to stay together? What advice could you offer for young couples to persevere?

We live in a throw-away society. If you don’t like something, you trade it in and get something new. In marriage, unless there is abuse or adultery, I don’t believe God really wants us to give up so easily. God has answers for us, especially when we can’t figure it out for ourselves.

6. The world around us has been tremendously changing. Do you think it will slow down or more radical and fundamental changes will come?

I don’t think the world will slow down, but as individuals, and especially as Christians, we will learn to find peace through God living in us, and slow ourselves down. The pace of the world will keep getting faster.

7. A lot of people feels, old times were golden, despite the facts, we have the best medicine and ways of communication these days. Would you rather live in a different era?

There are good and bad to all eras. I think what people miss from the “old days” are that we did slow down. Everything was closed on Sundays. We visited grandparents and cousins. Now, we compete with cell phones. Also, I think kids had instilled in them a sense of right and wrong, and manners. Also the schools taught History, Mathematics and English grammar. Many kids don’t know this information.

I think we are further ahead with race relations, although there still needs to be improvements. Women have better opportunities. And yes, it is fun to communicate with someone on the other side of the world through the internet!

8. Let’s turn to lighter things. Which is your favourite secret recipe? Care to share it with the readers?

I’m really not much of a cook. I have no secrets here.

Bailey, the very spoiled dog.
Bailey, the very spoiled dog.

9. If there was an imaginary list of the most beautiful and positive things in life what would you add to it and why?

I’m the kind of person who would rather be in the mountains than at the beach. There is something about the babbling of a stream that is the ultimate beautiful sound to me. I would invent a Theme Park where people could rent cabins in the middle of the stream. Okay, I might be the only customer but who knows?

10. Nowadays, almost everyone has a certain kind of understanding about the Afterlife. What is yours? Do we really cease to exist, or it is a one way street, or there is a connection between the earthly and spiritual life?

I believe in the Afterlife. We are spirit beings in flesh bodies. While the body dies, the spirit lives forever. There are only two options for the Afterlife: Heaven or Hell. There is no Purgatory. Jesus paid the price for all of our sins to be taken away, so that we would be able to enter Heaven. But we need to believe on Jesus, and more than that, we need to ask Him to come into our life and take over. When someone sincerely repents of their sins, and asks Jesus to come into their life, something spiritual happens. The pure life of God comes to live in us. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us. This is called being “Born Again.” Jesus said that He is the way, the truth, and the life, and that no one comes to Father God except through Him.

I know that many people believe that there are many ways to God, but I don’t believe this at all. God is King of the Universe, and if He wants people to enter Heaven by Jesus, then we need to follow His way.

11. Life these days looks pretty dark. Do you feel it was better and brighter in your childhood and we are doomed now? What future do you think our children will have? Do you think equality and mutual understanding, care and support will be manifested? Will people live for the sake of others?

I think each generation is different, and they are created to adapt to their time frame. I think that certain things get better, and other things get worse as time goes on. I don’t think we will ever reach true equality and mutual understanding, but we can keep moving towards it. We shouldn’t give up.

12. At last, let me ask you which areas do you think ought to be helped the most in the world? Who can do it? Are we really “too small” for them?

We need to do much more for our Veterans. They should be our number one priority.

We also need to help school children. The money that is wasted in the education system for administrators is abominable. Many kids need to have breakfast at school because they don’t get it at home. Also, school buses are needed for kids that live ½ mile away, instead of a mile away.

It was over before I realized

It was over

Before I realized

How much I miss

From love and the world

Without her

Then God visited me

In different forms

And tried to lead me

In different ways

As I was blind

Dead and mute

It took a long while

To see myself

As a son of His

Even now it is hard

To believe

That He loves me

I can be happy

By myself I know

It won’t be perfect

But I am not alone

Heavenly Parent

Is watching over me

Why has God been feeling sorrowful toward this world?

Why has God been feeling sorrowful toward this world? Why has God been grieving over the Earth? God is not grief-stricken because of Satan. He is not agonizing and grieving because He resents evil or finds countless sinners on Earth.

Really, God’s sorrow and grief is because He has not yet been able to call human beings “My beloved sons, My beloved daughters”, and because He has not heard His sons and daughters calling God, “My Father!” You must know the real sorrow that God has endured is that He could not have prepared an environment where He would be welcomed by His sons and daughters.

It is inevitable that all human beings are destined to look for the original and true Father. Then, you must consider with what value and content you call God your Father. You need to really understand who God is when you call Him Father.

SMM Quotes – 240

“The whole world, or cosmos, should live for God. In that way we can erect the Kingdom of Heaven in the spirit world. The whole world, or cosmos, should live for God. In that way we can erect the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. Would you want to live in the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth or in the kingdom where people live for the sake of themselves?” – Reverend Sun Myung Moon

Why is true love so precious and important?

Why is true love so precious and important? It is because it is the means by which we can meet God. Just as human beings desire to meet God, God also wants to meet true human beings because of love. The love by which God can see, touch, and share with men and women at the same time, is the love by which men and women love each other. If anything other than love were to be recognized as the most valuable thing in the universe, men and women would fight each other to try to claim it for themselves. Once we realize that love is the highest value, however, we can strive to live for each other and become one with each other, sharing the happiness of possessing love together.

Can God Really Heal Us?

Common belief

God will save and heal

Us in time of needs

Yet nobody knows

Why He would do that

When we are not there

Where we should be

This time or ever

We have been blaming

Him and each other

For everything in disorder

Lack of clarity

Ignorance is bliss

Imperfect hide and seek

Why would God heal us

We are not machines to be fixed

We are sons and daughers

Who need to grow

Mature and prosper

Embrace who is our Father

Whose characteristics we shall reflect

The Centre of All Things

Everything is connected to the love of God. Every creature on earth says to love, “Please come and dwell with us.” Love does not have any particular dwelling place, nor any particular direction – but amazingly it becomes the centre of all things. This is its secret.

You always find true love in the very centre. You must not forget this concept. When you look at something, wherever your attention goes first becomes the focus or centre – and that is where true love dwells.

Let’s say there are 360 closed doors in a circle. Only love has the power to open them all at once. Were it not for love, even God would have to go around opening them one by one. When your husband comes home, it doesn’t matter which door he enters. You won’t say, “You can’t come in the back door, just use the front door.” When your loved one is coming home, every door is open to him, isn’t that so? Even if a big man who looks fearful – rough and dirty like a beast – is touched by true love, he blossoms like a flower. He smiles and shines with the beauty of true love. If you are intoxicated by true love, there is nothing you cannot do.

In true love, the lower your position, the better. This is because the lowest position can best complement the highest position. The truly virtuous king is the one who loves not only his cabinet members or his ministers but also those who are the lowest, poorest, and most miserable. A good king must be able to harmonize with even an old lady in the countryside.

What are saints?

What are saints? Saints are the ones who are ahead of other people in realizing, practising, and teaching this principle. In other words, saints are people who have expanded this realm of living for the sake of others. It’s all part of the law of the creation. We must go and we must love. We must put all our love and everything we’ve got into our families, into other people, and into the nation. This is the course we have to follow, and then this living principle will just go around and around and expand throughout space.

Where We Truly Meet God

For instance, let us say a father is building a big house. Neither is this father rich nor has he abundant house construction materials. However, he completes the construction after going through all kinds of difficulties; now he has a house everyone envies. On this great day, the father would reflect on his past and think of the difficulties he experienced. The happiness the father feels on this day would be in proportion to the degree of difficulties he had faced; the greater the difficulties, the greater the happiness he feels. His children, however, did not help their father during those hard times; they did not understand their father and distanced themselves from him instead. Now let us say that these children join their father to celebrate this great day together. How would the father treat his children? Would he say, “You are the children I love, so please join me in this celebration today?” On the contrary, he would reminisce on his sorrowful past upon seeing his children. Even if the children were to regret not having helped their father, we already know that they would cause the father much pain and sadness on that great day.

In order to complete the purpose of the entire providence, God, just like this father, immensely suffered and went through infinite pain as he advanced the providence. Unfortunately, the numerous people in the position of children did not collaborate with God. As God overcame hills of difficulties, one after another, he hoped that mankind would work with him. God needed companions.

God cannot surmount those hills without companions. God cannot go beyond a hill representing an individual cross without the companionship of people. In the same way, he cannot go over hills representing a family, a people, a national or a global cross without a companion. God, who is carrying the responsibility of the global cross, cannot go over this hill without a sacrificial substantial being that invests maximum effort with the determination to fulfil his or her filial duty toward God. We must therefore know that God has been hoping for sons and daughters who can work with him because of such a course of restoration.

Someday the purpose of restoration will conclude and God’s will for the providence will be realized. When that happens, the day God can truly feel happy will come. How would God feel when he ushers in this day? Not only would he look pathetic from the numerous hardships he had to go through but he would also look wretched and miserable from the pain he received as he suffered by bearing millions and trillions of crosses. You must understand that God had to go through this process in order to welcome this day.

If you are to join him on this day, you must be able to feel God’s heart-rending sorrow as he underwent hardship all throughout history in order to usher in this one day, to liberate all human beings and to enable human beings to have happy lives, even if you did not directly collaborate with God’s work.

You must ready your hearts to weep and be contrite in front of God who has ushered in this day. You should feel angry and repent saying, why didn’t I get to know you? How was I unaware of your worried heart?

If you truly repent about your past lives, a condition for God to sympathize with you may materialize. In other words, you should not join God on this great day if you do not have such a heart. That explains the Bible verse Matthew 7:21, “Not everyone who says to me, `Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only lie who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

We are heading forward in order to meet God. Everyone hopes to meet a God of joy; however, we should never forget that God had to go through all kinds of hardships and sorrow to appear as the God of joy.

What God did you attend as you followed the path toward the crucifixion? You should be able to do anything to share in God’s sorrow when he is sad, comfort him when he is lonely, lament over his misery, comfort him for the persecutions he suffered, and do everything to carry the cross along that path instead of God. If such sons and daughters exist, God will call them and set them up in front of the entire creation and the entire universe when this joyful day is ushered in. Instead of making this joyful day his, lie would want to make it into his children’s. We must be able to understand that this expresses God’s heart.

God has been looking for such sons and daughters for this reason and has been hoping for siblings, families, nations the world and the cosmos to fill with such children. As people who understand this and stand on the front-line of restoration work, we must know the immensity of the responsibility we carry. To become children that attend such a God, humanity must desire to attend God and we must treat all human beings as brothers and sisters. Become models in attending God and set up at least a condition by which humanity can comfort God and have the desire to dissolve God’s sadness. A person with those qualities is God’s son or God’s daughter.
