The Root of Goodness, the Root of Love and the Root of Life

If you come to realize why Jesus, who came to be harvested as the fruitful entity of goodness, wishes to come again and demands a practical faith of human beings on this earth, you then have to move forward. You must fight with the resolution to advance through this path to the end, even in the face of any ordeals, sufferings and courses of struggle. Furthermore, you must not lead a life where you are self-centred and looking after your own interests.

Because each human being has lived a life that does good only for him or herself, and has carried out social activities in the same way, God feels sad. We of today should not live like that.

Although you may live somewhat self-centred for a day-to-day short life span, in the duration of your lifetime, you must set up a certain standard that you will consider as your centre. In other words, if there is a man who has everything working out well, centred on himself, throughout his day-to-day life, he cannot live with confidence like that for the duration of a lifetime or else he cannot be offered to God as a harvest of goodness. Therefore, unless you wait eagerly for that one day when you can make a father-son relationship with Jesus throughout your lifetime and build a foundation such that you can bear trials to seek that one centre, and endure any kind of hardship, you cannot reap the harvest of goodness for which you have hoped and for which Jesus Christ has wished on this Earth.

You cannot establish the standard of goodness only by your life course. Although it seems that there are words of goodness and men of goodness in this world, the person who can be the fountain-head and father of goodness has not yet appeared. Human beings are all speaking of love, goodness and life, but they all speak of their own lifetime. Until one substantial entity that can be the root of goodness, the root of love, and the root of life comes into our depths by connecting with our minds, our bodies, and our whole lifetimes, we cannot become the substantial entity of goodness. We must reach the standard of being able to connect with that entity.

We should be aware that Jesus was the man who came as the Father of all things in the Universe. In other words, he was the Father of myriads of people and he became the root of all life in this world. Therefore, Jesus became the root of goodness to the human beings who could not find the root of true life on this Earth. What is more, Jesus came to introduce the standard that can be the root of goodness to realize God’s Will in the human world. He is the root where the providential history that God has idealized is being unfolded in an obscure way

Since Jesus had a spirit and a body, he must have had internal and spiritual things, along with external and physical matters. Therefore, he must have had internal life and external life. Jesus established the central coordinates of life through living a life where the internal and the external are combined. He kept going to accomplish the standard that he wished, walking the course of the substantial entity for the sake of the Will on this Earth.

Although Jesus led a life suitable for him to fulfil such a mission, he did not attain the goal completely. That is why he had to wait 2,000 years to come back again. If the goal had been completely attained, then the Holy Spirit, Jesus and God would have come to live with us.

What do you think we have to inherit today from God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit? Human beings on this Earth must inherit the ideal of substantial goodness that Jesus wished and upheld. They must then set up the concept of goodness, the religion of goodness, and the standard of goodness which can connect their minds and bodies and connect to God’s Shim Jung (heart). If you possess the root of Jesus’ good ideology, it will still put forth new shoots, no matter how many times it is cut off.

We men of faith must understand what the root of such goodness is, what the root of God’s Love is, and what is the root of God’s Life and His Will. The lives of human beings, who lost such a root cannot transcend the aspects of time and space. However, if today, from the position where we are restricted by time and space, we come to find the root of goodness that can live in the eternal relationship with goodness, we then can rise above the world of time and space.

Jesus Who Is To Realize God’s Desire

What kind of man was Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ came as the substantial entity of goodness who could undo the bitter resentment of Heaven and Earth. Therefore, it was his mission to come to this earth as the substantial entity of idealistic goodness who could be spoken of with pride before God. He was to represent Heaven and represent the earth. He was the one for whom God waited eagerly. He was to be offered to God as the harvest of original goodness throughout his life. Because Jesus, who came with such a mission, came to bear the cross at Golgotha owing to human distrust, the man who should be the harvest of goodness became the sacrificial offering.

Therefore, Jesus carries a bitter Shim Jung (heart) originating from not having attained this. He has been praying a long time for the sake of realizing God’s original Will on this Earth. We must understand that, to accomplish this will, he will surely come again.

Similarly, Jesus came for the sake of saving all humankind to be the object of goodness of God. That is why he had the mission to subjugate Satan and make him cease to exist. At the same time, he came to realize God’s Ideal in God’s place. Jesus had to go the life course with which God could be pleased. Therefore, Jesus could not help but materialize such a will, not by dying, but during his lifetime. If Jesus had completed such matters while he was living, we of today would not have to wait for him to return. The goal, in other words, the harvest of goodness that God had idealized and wished for could already have been offered through the life course exemplified by Jesus. If that had happened, it would not have been necessary for Christians to toil, to supplicate and to lead prayerful lives awaiting Jesus’ return for 2,000 years.

Following in Jesus’ footsteps to fulfil the providential mission, we must accomplish today all of the goals Jesus set and fulfil the purpose for his being born. Unless we now fulfil God’s Will, even by sacrificing ourselves for Him, God cannot reap us as the fruitful entities of goodness.

God did not create human beings to live only in the spiritual world. He created them to live, building harmony between the spirit and the flesh by acquiring the substantiated body. That is, God created so that the spirit of human beings could govern all things by connecting with God, who exists as a spirit. The spirit and flesh can harmonize with each other by the spiritual body connecting to the physical body. This is the rule of creation. Therefore, you must understand that Jesus, who came to this earth as the fruitful entity of goodness after a 4,000-year history, should not have been the king of all kings only after he died, on the spiritual plane.

Jesus was anxious to clearly teach his beloved disciples the secrets of Heavenly principle without restraint. But there was no proper person who could comprehend Jesus’ Shim Jung (heart) and then uphold the Will. You must understand the indescribably tormenting circumstances pressing down upon the bosom of Jesus, who stepped forward wishing a time of triumph would come.

Jesus came for the sake of human beings and wanted to share joys and sorrows with them; however, he was unable to let them comprehend his circumstances. Therefore, God earnestly wished that Jesus become able to commune with human beings on earth. That is why God has come forth unfolding the dispensation of 2,000 long years in order for the person to emerge who can comprehend Jesus’ internal and external Shim Jung (heart).

After the lapse of the 4,000-year history after the fall of Adam, Jesus came as a substantial entity of cosmic goodness on this Earth to attain God’s hope for the first time. He paid dearly and sacrificed himself to serve God. Jesus is the man who remains to us the symbol of tribulation, suffering and toil.

It is not right if we spiritually seek only for all the fruit of goodness that Jesus left. That goes against Jesus’ saying, “Whatever you bind on Earth will be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on Earth will be loosed in Heaven,” (Matt. 16:19, 18:18).

If we have bitter resentment, it is not limited to our individual selves. In it, there is the acute, bitter resentment of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, there is the penetrating grief of the prophets and sages. While coming through the history of 6,000 years, God has waited eagerly for the day when human beings will awaken to the reality of their situation and become able to be offered as a sacrifice of goodness. The time when such an ideal comes to be realized is the time of the Second Coming. That time is now.

The Purpose of Life That Believers of Faith Must Have In the Last Days

You should know that although Jesus Christ was a true individual being, he has not expanded to the level of the family, the society, the nation and the world in stages. Thus, the sorrow of Jesus Christ has escalated into that of the cosmos, of God and of Heaven.

Therefore, humankind has wished for the day to come when they could moderate such sorrow and accomplish the eternal victory of Heaven. You must testify throughout your lives to the value of the whole dispensation of heaven and earth, and have the determination to manifest the love of heaven and earth.

However, there are differences between your view of the value of life you wish and God’s view of the value of the cosmic life He wishes for in order to complete the whole dispensation. Therefore, you must equip your minds with the attitude that you can lead a worldwide and cosmic life even in your individual lives, throughout your life course, setting the heavenly principle of hope as the standard. If you maintain such an attitude in your mind, then even when you do not completely realize the will, you can continually make internal connections with the whole.

That is why Jesus said, “Heaven exists in your mind.” What is the meaning of this? Jesus, who came as a man of cosmic love and perfect truth, with the value of cosmic life, said this to mean that the kingdom of Heaven will appear only when each person fulfils the whole value God blessed him with and maintains it as his foundation.

When individuals belonging to the realm of Heaven gather in unity to launch the worldwide life campaign and let the many good spiritual beings in the spiritual world make connections with the whole, the will of cosmic life on earth that Jesus tried to restore will be concluded for the first time. You must know this.

Jesus came with the mission to restore the cosmic life. When the people of that time received Jesus without understanding his mission or position, Jesus scorned them and told them that they must not be more concerned about what to eat, drink and wear than about God’s nation and righteousness. He told them not to adopt these concerns as the standard of their lives. If there is a person who lives with the determination to lead his daily life on behalf of God and Jesus Christ and to fight for the world, he will not be alone. God will be with such a person and Jesus and the Holy Spirit will also be with him until the end of the world. On the other hand, the people then led their lives concerned only about their own well- being, without understanding such relations. That is why Jesus scorned them.

What then is the purpose of your faith in Jesus in the last days? It is not for the sake of receiving some external worldly blessing. It is not for the sake of your individual well-being or good life either. Our good life is for the sake of Jesus and God. When that purpose changes its direction, things may appear fine, but as days go by, things will go awry. On the contrary, if humankind lives for the sake of Jesus, God and the world, Jesus said that God will bear the responsibility for everything.

By the way, while you have the responsibility to fulfil the will of God, the question is how much and how far you can sacrifice yourselves toward its fulfilment. If you sacrifice for your own sake, you will become an individual hero. if you sacrifice for the benefit of the world, you will become a worldly hero. If you sacrifice for heaven and earth to establish the victorious standard of life, you will become a hero who will govern Heaven and Earth. That is why Jesus has been striving behind the scenes until now to make humankind resemble his character, to find and establish the value of life.

It is so indescribably important for each of you to raise yourself and launch a restoration campaign for such a life. When viewed from the aspect of human history, in the sense of the realities of the world or in the perspective of the eternal hope of the future, this is vitally important. You have a great responsibility.

Your standard of life, including eating and all aspects of living, must be for the sake of restoring the whole life in the place of Jesus Christ. Moreover, you must become the one who proceeds forward with a sense of responsibility to realize the value of the whole life God is looking for, centring on the love that Jesus set up. Only when you become such persons will God’s Will of restoring the cosmic life be completed through you. You must understand that the place where such people gather to live is Heaven. The more such people there are, the more God will be with them and the more God will be delighted.

We Who Must Inherit the Mission of Jesus and Fulfil God’s Will

To practice love, you must, of your own accord, live a life of serving and caring for others. When you do that, you can make a connection to the love of the whole. Then you can establish the value of life of which the eternal God can approve. Because Jesus came with the mission to restore the cosmic life, he had to go through the course of individual service, individual sacrifice and individual tribulations. As he was bearing such responsibility, he wanted to be responsible, not just for his generation, but for the life of the whole of humankind until the mission of total restoration is completed.

In other words, Jesus has carried out the mission of the restoration of the cosmic life for the past 2,000 years. However, since he could not fulfill the mission alone, he sent the Holy Spirit to work. He is even mobilizing the many spiritual beings in the spirit world to carry out the mission.

Because Jesus came and went without fulfilling the mission to restore the value of cosmic life, that mission is yet to be completed. Therefore, Jesus is still working laboriously to complete the mission on earth until this day.

However, this mission cannot be completed only by Jesus. By whom, then, can this mission be completed? God wishes us to complete the mission. In other words, because Jesus could not fulfil the mission to restore the cosmic life, we have to carry it out. If you feel responsible for the mission to be completed in your generation, you need to have a strong determination throughout your lives to fulfil the mission by any means.

Now, you of today must experience in your daily lives that Jesus is making laborious efforts in the course of the providential dispensation to establish the value of cosmic life. Otherwise, the will of Jesus Christ, who has worked laboriously as a man of mission to restore the cosmic life, cannot be completed through us.

You must know that first you have to offer yourselves as a conditional object of pledge before Heaven. Jesus set a condition of pledge for the world, for heaven and earth and for the whole people. That was the crucifixion. Through the crucifixion, Jesus could cross over in one stage the standard set by many saints and sages through their struggles throughout their lives. Therefore, you must have a clear concept that you will become sacrificial offerings of pledge submitted before Heaven, before the world or before an individual to realize the value of cosmic life.

Wherever you go, wherever you are, whatever you do, you must always make an effort to set yourselves up as conditional objects of pledge in any circumstances, every hour and every day. Such a life is the life of faith. Now you are left with the mission to find the value of cosmic life in front of the Father. You must set yourselves up as conditional objects of pledge and lead lives by which you can make a connection with the life of Jesus. Furthermore, you must have the resolution that you will build yourselves into worldwide conditional objects. Further, you must determine that you will become the sacrifice of pledge replacing the numerous prophets who have made laborious efforts until now and for Jesus Christ. Only when each one of you makes such a condition of pledge can you multiply from one to two, become four, and reach to the world.

You must know that when such circumstances come into being, the earthly toils to find the true value of life will be concluded. In other words, unless the foundation that can conclude the earthly efforts to find life is formed in each of you and expands to the church, to the society, to the nation, and even to the world, the dispensational will for which God raised Jesus Christ, restoring the cosmic life, will not be concluded. You must understand this very clearly. When you think of yourselves, you who have worked during the dispensation of the will so far, and also of Christians today, no individual or family has appeared who represented the value of cosmic life and comprised a standard in which they connected to society, the nation and the world. The whole of humankind, each and every one in the world, was to enter that realm. However, they did not. Unless such a standard gets established on the Earth, Jesus Christ’s mission to restore the cosmic life will not be concluded.

SMM Quotes – 238

“How then should we who are to fulfil God’s will lead our lives now? Our day-to-day lives should not become ones that deal only with the internal and external matters of our own selves. Beyond matters of our own concern, we must connect ourselves with matters of the whole and take the responsibility to realize eternal value. Only then can you fulfil the will of Heaven’s gospel. When you take the path of missionary work with such a sense of duty, God will be with you. Similarly, when you lead your lives with loving and caring hearts, you will surely witness the miracle of recreation. You must know this for certain.” – Reverend Sun Myung Moon

A Spiritual Awakening

What our world needs today to save itself is a spectacular spiritual awakening. The world must be awakened to the reality of God and re-armed with a worldview based on God-affirming principles. This worldview is capable of eliminating the confusion in our value system. Of course, this spiritual reality will manifest itself in political and economic strength and military resolve, but the internal dynamic must be the spiritual foundation of faith in God and true love among human beings.

Based upon such an awakening into higher values, the nature of relationships between nations must be transformed. Until now, the driving force behind economic development has often been the desire for profits. In this way, a great amount of human potential has been unleashed, and remarkable world development has occurred. The time has come, however, for the developed nations to move beyond the profit motive. The principle of unselfish love must be applied on the level of international relationships. The developed nations of the world should feel that they have been blessed by God for the purpose of helping others. They must be willing to sacrifice for the underdeveloped nations of the world. They must give of themselves to free other human beings from misery. If the prosperous nations adopt this attitude, do you think they will be diminished? Do you think they will experience disastrous decline? Not at all. The opposite is true. If these nations do not think in loftier terms than the desire for profits, their prosperity will slip away in spite of their efforts to retain it.

How can anyone be at peace with himself when his fellowman is dying from lack of food, or ravaged by disease, or victimized by the darkness of ignorance? United together, the developed nations can launch a tremendous crusade to overcome the three scourges of humanity: hunger, disease, and ignorance.

What God Expects From America

America has been blessed for the last 200 years simply because America’s original settlers, the Pilgrim fathers, came for the sake of God. They wanted to create God’s Kingdom.

However, America is selfish in wanting to protect only the white people’s interests. Americans think, “We don’t want the people of all those different colours of skin coming to this country. They are taking away our jobs, our fortunes, and our future.” This is wrong thinking because this nation does not belong to the white people. Who were the original landlords of this country? The First Nation People. So white people are actually the guests of this country. The guests came into the country and kicked the hosts out. But still God blessed the white people and allowed them to prosper in this country, while the Indians were sacrificed. Why? Because when God looked at the Pilgrims and the early settlers, He saw that these white people were a different kind of white people. They were here sacrificially trying to build a nation under God and trying to offer hope and inspiration to the rest of the world. God allowed the white people to prosper for 200 years because He knew they had the capacity to help the rest of the world. However, unless white people serve the greater purpose of God, they no longer have any justification to claim ownership of this country. God always expected this nation to be a God-centred nation. America should become the ideal society, expounding true love and going out to help the entire world.

But today, as American people do business with the rest of the world, are they doing the will of God? Are they committing themselves completely for the sake of other countries? American people should be saying, “Even if we lose all of America, we’d rather give to benefit the entire world.” If America did that, it would never perish. But America has alienated the rest of the world. Why? Because this country lives selfishly and tries to win benefit for itself, while at the same time it is spreading immorality throughout the world. If Americans truly worked unselfishly and committed every ounce of their energy and every drop of their blood and sweat for the sake of the world, then the entire world would line up right behind America. There would never be such a slogan as “Yankee Go Home!”

America has been known as the melting pot, a land where the oppressed people of all nations can live together peaceably. But today in this country, there is more division among races and nationalities than ever before. More and more, individualism prevails. How can true love survive in such an environment? This country cannot prosper with this attitude.

What does God want from us?

Let me ask you this question: is it possible that God wants all of us to be happy?

Is there even a slight chance for this: each and every human who has ever been alive are to be a citizen of Heaven?

Or all this is a mere daydream, which has been floating for ever?

  • There are, who say, there is no God.
  • There are, who are firm, there is God. And they are willing even to kill for Him.
  • There are, who think, the people who believe in God, they have been brainwashed, and God is only for the weak, miserable, poor and unimaginative.
  • There are, who think, they are God. In their way of speak and deeds it seems to be true.

But what about God?

I mean, who is He really? What does He want us to do? Can there be anything what He needs from us?

I know a lot of decent, kind heart people, who read the scriptures of their faiths – some of them the Bible, some of them other ones. Interestingly, most of them can not answer these questions beyond dogmatic responses or stating nobody can know, that is the point of faith…

Jesus told us, we have one common root, Heavenly Father.

That makes us siblings – all around the world, way beyond any boundaries of denominations, race, culture or territories.

Jesus became a strong, yet kind, understanding and actively caring, loving sibling for each and every one of us, beyond even the time. We can all feel Him quite often, trying to encourage us to go to the right direction.

Certainly, there are plenty among the saints and sages, true sons and daughters who do the same.

Yet, our common excuses are mostly job related, or even family matters are on the top why not to be able to manifest anything. Since cursing, littering, lying, betraying, are so typical life-skills for us these days.

Carrying the burden of someone else, even our ‘enemy’ – well, that is so ridiculous in the 21st century, that there is almost nobody to step up and do the very same.

Sharing love and wealth, well, that is even crazier nowadays. Who would do that without expecting anything in return? Interestingly, young children normally do this. Yet, today this is not a common ‘life-skill’ for adults, isn’t it?

Being happy by other people’s happiness and success, not by their misfortune and misery, that would be part of the ideal. How could we sleep peacefully, while anybody is suffering, experiencing loss, hunger, unrighteousness! In an ideal state, we wouldn’t even be able to think of sleeping up until we actually helped our siblings in need.

If God wants us to be happy and in abundance, we should start with each other: loving, caring, acting – without expecting anything in return, looking for the sample paths in the Nature and the Messiah.

Even if you face lonely periods in your life

Even if you experience lonely time periods when you feel you have no power within, you should not get discouraged. You should know through such periods you could overcome the valleys of your life. A border in the valley is the midpoint of the valley. The larger the valley, the wider is the bottom of the valley. You will experience a lonely time when you alone pass through the expanse of the bottom of the large valley. When you are there, neither God nor Satan can interfere with you. You must pass through it all by yourself. Like a boat has to navigate through sunken rocks in dark night, you must face such a dangerous time. You want to gut it out, but you have no power left in you. Then you will be overcome with the feeling that God has forsaken you. You are so bewildered that you cannot tell if God really even exists.

The question is how can you overcome such a time? You must remind yourself of a past time when you were filled with joy because of the grace and blessings you received from God, as if you were a bee that was intoxicated with nectar. You need to have such experiences. God, who protected me in the past when I faced difficulty is my loving Parent. I am without a doubt God’s child. No matter how curved and contorted the road your travel takes you, in the end God will put you in the position to fulfil the purpose of His love. This is absolutely true, no matter what.

A reason why God lets you go through this process is that He wants you to realize something very important and very significant. For that reason, God gives you this kind of time period. It is not that God is blocking the way so that you must face this lonely period. If you face a period of loneliness, you must overcome the period with faith that is rooted in the conviction that God loves you from your personal standard – that God has been protecting you and encouraging you. In spite of what people may say, you must overcome such a lonely period. You cannot depend on anyone. You must not be discouraged even if you fall into the position where no one recognizes you.

When you are lonely, you must realize that God too must be agonizing, since He has to place you, His loving child, in such a position of loneliness. Do you agree with this? God is in the same position as parents who anguish over their child as they helplessly see their child suffering. Realizing this, as you go through this lonely period, God will be filled with a great desire to love you even more. However, He cannot give you love because it is a time you have to go through alone.

So, you should know as soon as you go through the lonely course, God’s love will reach to you. So, you must go through the period with this faith. You should know once you overcome that, you will definitely receive great blessings. After you experience this several times, you will never doubt God’s Will nor wonder about your destiny even though you are over and over going through a lonely course, or being placed in a lonely position. In this way, you will learn the process for going through a lonely period.
